The Company
Marmota Engineering AG is a Swiss company specialized in fibre-optic sensing solutions for geotechnical and general engineering applications. Through innovation within Marmota, field experience in over 100 commercial projects worldwide during the past 14 years and over 19 years of research at one of the world's leading Universities (ETH Zurich), we have developed a strong expertise for all phases of a successful monitoring project: from innovative design to well-funded data processing.
As an interdisciplinary team of civil engineers and natural scientists, we clearly understand what creeping slopes, soil-embedded infrastructure and urban settlements all are about. In addition, as experienced practitioners we know what this means in terms of designing a fully functional solution for the harsh environment with fragile fibre-optic sensors.

History
MARMOTA as a business idea started in 2009 during the Venture 2010 business plan competition. Monitoring operations on construction sites started in October 2010 and some month later MARMOTA was incorporated under the name of Marmota Engineering Ltd. The first installation abroad was performed in summer 2011 in Hyde Park and in an Underground Tunnel in London. In 2014 we moved into new and larger offices in Technopark in the centre of Zurich. Many more projects in Switzerland, Europe with focus on The Netherlands and Great Britain, and some extraordinary destinations as Hong Kong and Dubai followed.
Partners
As an independent system integrator, we are not obliged to use certain technology and thus, are free to choose the most suitable measurement technology specifically for each project. However, we maintain a close exchange with many manufacturers and have selected partnerships, so that we can supply our clients with state-of-the-art at best prices.
